The word according to David.

Many wasted words. Some good ideas.

That’s the writer’s mantra. Most of what you write is garbage, tossed into the void – but the ones that survive? They bite. They stick. They end up on screen.

This is how I’ve made my living: scribbling in the shadows, testing ideas, getting sharp enough to work on other people’s films without getting eaten alive.

Below, the latest feature crawled out of the caverns of my brain. Scroll down, take a peek. Or if you want to chat projects, flick a message to my people.

“Writing a book is a lot like reading a book, except the book is trying to kill you”.

So after studio interest on a limited series pilot screenplay, we pivoted the idea to a feature film. With funding I get to exercise what the above maxim feels like by developing my third commissioned feature film script. This story is based on interviews of my Great Grandmother (still living and 98 years old).

Grandma (the screenplay’s temporary moniker) is an unconventional period love story, where an international journey to escape war, ends in an unforgiving Australian welcome.
